“You don’t take a photo, you make it”
– Ansel Adams
My photography involves primarily landscapes and nature, and much of my practice involves hiking, camping, backpacking, and road trips. I’ll use this blog to share photos I’ve made of the places I’ve visited. Since not everyone gets to see some of these places, especially those in backcountry wilderness – and even if we did, each person sees them a bit differently – this is my way of sharing my view of them.
I hope you will enjoy these places vicariously through my experiences, and that you share in the essence of what I’ve seen. When I see a particular scene it invokes an emotional response which I hope to capture in each photo I make. If you feel that, and are drawn into the image, then I’ve succeeded. You could say my goal is to create an immersive experience for you, the viewer (or as much so as possible with a two-dimensional photo).
I am also practicing product photography (for website and catalog use) as well as urban landscapes and a bit of street photography. Some of that may show up here as well from time to time, as well as other photography related topics.
Thanks for taking the time to stop by. I’d love to hear any feedback, and will be glad to answer any questions, so please feel free to contact me using the form below.
